February 5, 2010: SKETCH LAB AUDITIONS
The Playground Theater in conjunction with GRAFITTI PRODUCTIONS is proud to announce THE SKETCH LAB. THE SKETCH LAB is an 8 week sketch comedy writing LAB. The 6 -8 person lab will be lead by Playground President and Grafitti Producer Matt Barbera. Throughout the program guest comedy writers will be brought in to discuss comedy writing with THE LAB. Every week LAB members will receive a sketch comedy writing assignment. At the following weeks lab the scene will be discussed and put on its feet by other members of the lab. Auditions for THE SKETCH LAB will be held Saturday February 27th. The audition will consist of an improv / storytelling component and 2 writing sample. When you sign up for the audition you will be given a suggestion / concept for one of your written scene. The Sketch Lab participants will end up with a sketch comedy show performed at Grafitti. The Playground presents the Tweet Life, a show that incorporates Twitter users and their tweets as suggestions. This week's Tweet Life is performed by Playground member ensemble Mustang Repair, featuring the tweets of @word_czar, and for the first time ever, this week's show will be streamed online via Ustream.
Tune into the Tweetlife channel at 8pm Friday (tonight!) to catch The Fling and Space Robbers kick off the action, or take the more traditional approach and head on out to the theater where tickets are only $10 (or ask us on Twitter for the super secret half-price password for $5 tickets).

REALitease- Directed By Wing Nights Sabrina Pratt- is an improvised reality show. So look for some crazy antics and wild personalities to hit The Playground Stage. REALitease is the Playgrounds newest Directors series show and runs every Wednesday through February at 8pm. January 14, 2010: Solo Sketch Comedy Class with Paul Thomas.
Grafitti and The Playground are proud to announce the next solo sketch comedy class taught by Paul Thomas. Open to the experienced and not-so experienced, it will focus on writing, stage presence, structure, tools, tricks, timing, cadence, and finding inspiration for creating solo character pieces. The workshop will be limited to 6 students to ensure all attendees receive a lot of personal attention. The class will also recieve sets at HAPPY HOUR and have a GRAFITTI show at the Playground in March

The Playgroground is proud to announce THE IMPROVISERS STUDIO: YEAR 2. The Improvisers Studio will be a bi-weekly class taught by member of the Chicago Improv Community.lCasses and instructors will vary from session to session but one thing will remain constant.. Classes are FREE. Classes will require people to pre-register to attend.
